The cup body is made of porcelain, smooth to touch, after slightly thicker than delicate tea cups so it retains heat better. The infuser is a removable porcelain that fist snugly inside the cup.  It holds loose tea leaves, allowing hot water to circulate through while keeping the leaves contained.

The lid usually domed or slight flat, helps trap steam and aroma during brewing and can also be flipped over to hold the infuser after steeping
